IFA is a farmers cooperative serving our members and their local communities since 1923. We manufacture and distribute products, and deliver services to the agricultural community that are reasonably priced and professionally managed.

We work to protect and enhance the economic well-being and quality of life for family farmers and ranchers, and their local communities. We believe that good opportunities in production agriculture are the foundation of strong farm and ranch families, and, in turn, build thriving communities that help secure the economic well-being of the entire national economy.

A cooperative, or co-op, buys and sells products or services just like any other business. The difference is that a co-op is owned and governed by its members – the people who use it (rather than by stockholders) – and profits are reinvested in the co-op or distributed to its members.

Cooperatives are most often comprised of individual – usually independent – businesses. People join together to do business more effectively by sharing the purchase of products and services, increasing volume and lowering costs, group marketing and administration.

As a local agricultural purchasing and supply co-op, IFA understands that our members value quality products, exceptional service and expert advice. We strive for the success of the collected group by leveraging each member, producing products, developing partnerships, and providing great savings and efficiencies.

• Be part of a values-based organization that puts people ahead of profits.
• Invest in a business that is locally-owned and contributes to a thriving local economy.
• Share in the financial success of the organization. A portion of the profits generated by IFA’s business is returned to the members each year. This money, referred to as “patronage,” is paid back to members in a combination of cash and equity.
• The larger our membership business is (as a percentage of our total business), the bigger the percentage of patronage can be returned to members.
• Be heard. Your voice, your vote, and your dollars help shape the Co-op. You will be qualified to nominate and vote for an individual in your district to serve on the IFA Board of Directors. If you qualify, you can even run for a seat on the Board.
• Membership has its privileges including exclusive member only sales and invitation only events.
• Purchase history – for tax purposes – is available to members.

• Possess an account (cash, revolving, or charge) with IFA.
  If you do not currently have a cash account with IFA, we invite you to apply. Simply complete the online application to get started.
• Be a producer of agricultural products.
  An agricultural producer is any person or entity that produces agricultural products, including, but not limited to: livestock, crops, poultry, rabbits, gardens, fruit trees, bees, etc. All purchases from IFA by an agricultural producer will count toward qualification as a member if purchases are applied to their account.
• Spend at least $2,000 per year at IFA.
• Agree to the terms and conditions of the articles of incorporation and by-laws of the Association (available upon request).

Step 1: Open a cash, revolving or charge account with IFA. To open a cash account, complete our online application form.

Step 2: In order for you to receive patronage, a completed W-9 form will also need to be provided. Please fill out the W-9 and send it to the same address or fax number listed in Step 1.

Step 3: Meet all of the requirements for membership. Once you’ve qualified, you will be notified and asked to agree to the terms and conditions of the articles of incorporation and by-laws of the Association (available upon request).

A portion of IFA’s profits is returned to co-op members each year as “patronage”; a combination of cash and equity. When IFA cash, revolving or charge accounts are used with each transaction and membership business grows, so does the percentage of patronage returned to our members.

A cash account is an account in which a customer is required to pay the full amount at the time of purchase and all transactions are recorded. There are several benefits, including our ability to provide you with yearly tax statements and an in depth account history that can assist you regarding your past purchased items.

When using your cash account, simply give your account number to the IFA Sales Associate at the time of purchase and it will be recorded.

When you purchase at least $2000 in farm and agricultural supplies from IFA per year – and you are an agricultural producer – you could be eligible for co-op membership. As a member, you share in the financial success of the cooperative, special member sales and events, and much more.
